Chinese revolution as new Saatchi Gallery opens in London

THE OPENING OF THE NEW SAATCHI GALLERY, LONDON

The new Saatchi Gallery opened its doors for the first time on Tuesday evening, with celebrities and art world stars arriving in their droves for the art event of the season. The 70000 sq ft gallery was packed by 7pm with a queue quickly forming along the King’s Road. Guests such as Mica Parish, Tracey Emin, Gavin Turk and Ruby Wax joined collectors Anita Zabludowicz, Ivor Braka and Daria Zhukova to see the new gallery and inaugural exhibition of Chinese contemporary art. Julian Schnabel, whose paintings are on display in the Phillips de Pury & Company space on the third floor of the gallery, flew in from New York for the event, and Lily Allen and Nigella Lawson posed for photographers among the wheelchair-bound old men of Sun Yuan and Peng Yu’s installation.

Heri Meets Artists Gilbert and George [Again]

Heri meets iconic Modern British artists Gilbert and George in East London! By complete luck and they talk to Heri,it all gets a bit fanboy…..! en.wikipedia.org I used to see George everyday in the early ninties as he went for an evening walk, and he used to always say hello. For no reason apart from saying hello.Which always stuck in my mind.People never talk to each other in London! He was always dressed immaculately in the rougher East End of London ,contrasting sharply in his tweed suits. Theses are the daddies, the forefathers, godfathersof the cool brittania damien hirst, tracey emin, modern art movement of the nineties. Gilbert Proesch and George Passmore created a big body of work especialy the jack freak picture series . But they also turned their lives into a living work of art. en.wikipedia.org It was exceptionally cool to bump into 2 great modern living artists. Heri mkocha

VIVIENNE WESTWOOD AT LONDON FASHION WEEK CCTV News

Switching to the catwalks of London, rebel Vivienne Westwood wowed the crowd at London Fashion Week with a unique mix of classic design, space-age hair and rainbow makeup. A more grounded collection was offered by Issa designer Daniella Helayel who took a trip back to her Brazilian roots. The clothes, for Westwood’s spring and summer 2012 Red Label collection came from the last 20 years of her formidable archives. But the presentation was ultramodern thanks to the spectacular hair pieces worn by some of the models. Still, she seemed more interested in environmental issues than in fashion, using the show as a platform to tout a plan for saving the planet’s rain forests from destruction. Vivienne Westwood said, “I try to use my fashion to talk about things that I really care about, do some good in the world if possible. I think fashion is a life enhancing thing to do I think it is great fashion but I still think you should buy less and choose well and make it last. ” Westwood’s show drew a number of celebrities, including artist Tracey Emin, who joined the crowds backstage to toast the designer.
