¿Prostitución?
¿Prostitución? Performance by Ambar Servin “Nit de l’Art”, Spain, 2009 Making reference to 12 of the most prestigious figures in contemporary art from Damien Hirst to Marina Abramoviç, the artist´s performance “¿PROSTITUCIÓN?” investigates the basic fact of many artists day to day reality — how to survive and move forward. By revealing the word prostitución in their names and making a final question (What does the artist who doesn´t sell him/herself) live of?) at the end, the artist challenges the audience to spark off a debate about the art world. While creating a dizzying diverse dialogue of confessional and melancholic veracity, “¿PROSTITUCIÓN?” subtly questions the boundaries between art and life. By use of an alter ego, the “Bambi,” Ambar Servin makes a statement of her position as a young emerging artists cutting a path for herself through the wild forest that is the art world.
