    She’s the one that’s richer & she’s about as deep as a puddle.

    Popularity is no guide to quality, the Trustees of the Tate ignored Picasso & Dali, some experts. They will fall for any old irrelevant juvenile twaddle, regardless of merit

    It’s ground to a halt, you need more than grounding to get off the ground floor, to break new ground you need to be well grounded, then you’ll hold your own ground, otherwise, your Art will be groundless.

    Nah, the Art world has been too marginalized; it cant afford to be stuffy. So a few bombastic, outspoken, sensational and (maybe to you) juvenile people on the outskirts of it certainly help. This chick got wasted on television – that’s a rockstar behaviour! But she’s an “artist.” And I think that’s hella cool

  • 1cylynt1:

    An artist’s personal life is one aspect and their work is another. Do not mix the two. She should leave the “rockstar behavior to rockstars” and act like she has sense. Fine art is an intellectually and academically demanding expression. Emin does not have an intelligent bone in her body. She will no doubt cause her own demise as Pollock and Warhol did.

    Stop reposting. Art cannot be contained, and it is not a product. Art is a mode of expression, and for some, survival – and nothing fantastic ever comes out of comfort. It takes conflicted people with complicated heads to convey such emotion in their work. It’s like saying “Janis Joplin could sure sing the blues, but her life was a real mess!” Art is an extension of the artist, anything else is fraud. Pollock’s work stemmed directly from his soul, and looked every bit like it.

  • TykoEaston:

    Oh, and please don’t collapse art with ACADEMIA. Oh god, no. Don’t ever collapse the natural with the imposed.

  • 1cylynt1:

    Janis Joplin made a career of singing black music & ultimately brought her own demise with a heroin overdose, fraud & stupid! Pollock drunk himself to death & killed a woman & injured another in the process, stupid & careless. I refuse to give praise to fraudulent, stupid, careless individuals & call them artist. Joplin, Pollock, Emin, these people are/were fortunate enough to make it in their field & don’t respect/appreciate it enough to keep the success. Emin’s end will be the same.

  • TykoEaston:

    Oh gosh, now you’re categorizing soul music as being a black-only niche. You haven’t garnered enough accomplishments to debase these people, or to understand that placid and balanced humans never do anything remarkable. You’ve gotta have a problem to express one. Is the ideal life lived in the lining of a sofa? No strife or frustations? Maybe you’re the kind who ignores his problems.

  • 1cylynt1:

    Blues & Soul originated from black culture, learn music history. You have no idea what I have accomplished, nor anything about me. These people’s lives are well documented which gives me the knowledge to point out their weaknesses. There are plenty of intelligent artists that save themselves from destruction instead of welcoming it. Goya, Beethoven, Kahlo, The Mars Volta, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, all had obstacles throughout their lives. Their perseverance denotes their strength.

    Dear Tracy Emin,

    If you are reading this could you please make art by harming yourself.

    Thank you

  • caitdefreine:

    anyone who reacts like that to another persons opinion could not possibly have an appreciation of any type of art other than it might match their curtains – thats you goldenfilly.;
